Addressing the challenges of the tourism business

Contents

In the tourism sector, changes and innovation are constant due to the evolution of the travelers’ expectations. Tourism businesses are asked to address market issues and needs. Entrepreneurs have to keep updated with how the tourism sector changes and, at the same time, provide solutions and answers to these requests. Tourism businesses need to address the changing market by hiring professional resources. These resources should be able to respond to the demands while supporting the company in further developing so as to address the challenging and innovative aspects of tourism.
Given this constant, and somehow unpredictable change, SMEs face different struggles. First, to properly recognize and name the market need their company is facing, second to identify the professional profile which best addresses these needs so as to move to the selection and recruitment process. The struggle does not just come from the fact that small sized enterprises, quite often family managed, do not have the expertise and capability to identify the market needs and apply them to their own business, but also by the fact that in a quick changing market standardized professional careers might not properly fit to the identified necessity of the entrepreneur. Thus, the demand of acquiring the ability to identify the right professional need for own business development and framing this professional profile within the tourism market which shows constant changes.
